About me
Welcome! My name is Kristina and I am the new publisher for Macaroni KID Portland. I am a stay at home Mom to a 5 year old girl, and 3 year old boy. We currently live in Biddeford, and absolutely love this area and our community. When my daughter was a baby I was lucky enough to find a group of like minded Mom's that I clicked with. You could find us at a different event almost every day of the week. Whether it be Library Story Time, play time at the local Rec Center, or play dates at each others homes, we always had something fun going on with friends we loved. We were lucky to have such a close knit community. All of the Mom friendships that I built truly helped me get through those early years of motherhood. Getting out of the house and going to events wasn't always easy, but it was so worth it for my sanity as well as my kids. The pandemic put a hard stop to all of those fun activities and gatherings with friends. Like every other family on the planet, we had to pivot and try to find our new normal. We focused more on exploring family friendly hiking trails, parks, and beaches, but it's hard to come up with fun new ideas to keep your family entertained day in and day out, and I struggled. I hadn't realized how much I had come to rely on those weekly events. I loved getting to know my area in new ways and how it pushed my family to be outside more, but I missed my community terribly. Fast forward to now and we are slowly getting back to normal. More and more events are popping up, and I am here for it! Our family has slowly started to reintroduce old favorites like Library Story time, or visits to the Children's Museum back into the mix, and it feels so good! One thing I am happy to have carried over from the Pandemic is how much more time we spend outside, I'm just glad that more and more of that outside time can be spent with our friends.
My wish, is that you too are getting back out there into your community in a way that feels safe for you and your family. That you are spending more time with old friends, and cultivating new friendships. I've come to realize how incredibly important community is, and I truly hope that the events I list bring you joy, and help connect you with your community. See you out there!
