A Note from Your Publisher--May 9, 2020

By Kimberly French, Editor and Publisher of Macaroni Kid Portland May 9, 2020

Happy Mother's Day to all the incredible moms out there! I hope that this weekend is one of relaxation and pampering for you. Perhaps, this year, it looks different than in prior years, due to our social distancing, but I wish for you a weekend of happiness and love.

Time for Some Raw Honesty from Your Publisher

I feel like I owe my readers an apology. Like many of you, I am in a time of distress and exhaustion. I am trying to teach 22 students virtually from home (something that was far from expected for all teachers, but especially for me when I took on a long-term subbing job to cover a teacher's maternity leave), guide my two girls in their own distance educations, stay on top of everyone's virtual schedules, attempt to stay healthy while doing all of this, and then keep up with Macaroni Kid Portland. Alas, I haven't done a very good job of the latter. You have had to go some weeks without my help for you to find your family fun, and for that, I am sorry. My hope is that you have enjoyed the content that I have provided and that you've been able to access the site (portland.macaronikid.com) for the weeks when I haven't shown up in your inbox. Thank you for extending me grace and forgiveness as we all continue to navigate these unprecedented waters.

As always, I wish you all the best. Thank you for being the best readers anyone could ask for!

NOTE ABOUT DAILY RECURRING EVENTS: You'll notice that all of the events listed as May 9 are actually daily recurring events, so, even though it looks like they all take place on 5/9, they actually take place any day, all day. As for events that are listed multiple times, that means the same venue is offering something different each of those days, so tune in each day for a different experience!

Have a great week, everyone. Enjoy your macaroni!

Be humble. Be kind.

Stay well,

Kim
