Animal Refuge League Summer Camp Registrations Happening SOON

And we say goodbye to new mom, Felicia, and hello to Darci, new humane education manager

In a recent newsletter from Animal Refuge League in Westbrook, families were informed that after Felicia, humane education manager, had her baby in December, she has made the "bittersweet" decision to stay home with her cute little bundle and hand over the ARLGP Humane Education reins to Darci Bloemendaal. After seeing the picture of Felicia's baby, I don't blame her one bit! I'd want to stay home and squish his adorable cheeks as much as possible, too.

You may know Felicia if your child has ever attended a vacation camp, birthday party or afterschool club at ARLGP. She has been a cornerstone of their humane education program, creating and facilitating powerful and compassionate programming and events, all with the goal of creating animal lovers and advocates of our children and their families. Her ease with the children and top-notch knowledge of animal behavior was always greatly admired and appreciated. She'll definitely be missed, but we are happy she's enjoying her new life adventure as a mom. Congratulations, Felicia!

We are now excited to welcome Darci to the humane education program. I haven't had a chance to meet her yet, but I'm sure if she has the Felicia and ARLGP seal-of-approval, she's a great match. Darci has worked with children and animals in many different educational settings, including volunteering, organizing adoption events and fostering cats and kittens. And since she's just moved to Maine from Colorado, we don't have to worry about her taking any extra time acclimating to a cold Maine winter! As Lila looks forward to starting her second afterschool Critter Club in March, so, too, are we looking forward to meeting Darci. Welcome!

But wait, there's more ARLGP news!

If you want to sign your kiddo up for ARLGP Summer Camp, you better have your fast fingers ready on the computer on Tuesday, March 10. These camps fill EXTREMELY fast, so don't delay one second! No, seriously, I mean it. Last year I was on the website the minute registration opened (NOON) and by the time I went to enter Lila's information, the camp had already filled with people who obviously had quicker fingers than I! The programming is incredible and your animal-loving child will have a great time, so start training those fingers now!
